Pressed glass actually is molded pressed glass, since it was made by pressing the molten glass into a mold either by hand or by machine.
- The first step is melting the raw materials - mainly silica sand, soda ash, and limestone at high temperatures (around 1,600℃）into a furnace. The melted glass has a highly viscous consistency to allow the glass craftmen to properly manipulate it.
- Then molten glass is molded into a custom shape. The shapes come in different designs and can be customized to suit your preference.
- Finally, we cool the finished pressed glass in a long annealing oven for 2-5 hours to prevent any breakage.

Mold seam
Pressed glasses have mold seam on its body, some of the seams can be removed after polishing.
Thin and Thick rim
Machine-made pressed glasses can achieve a thin rim thickness like 2mm, while hand-made pressed glasses can only have thicker rim thickness over 3.3mm.

Surface Finishing on Pressed Glass
Sand-blasting: This decorative method involves transforming a clear glass into a frosted version by applying solid abrasive ( such as sand) against the surface of glassware at high speed using compressed air.
Decal paper: Decal paper is transfering the logo/text/pattern onto the surface of custom glassware.
Acid etching: it is a process of transforming the clear glass into a matte white or blurry finish in the hydrofluoric acid liquid for around 45 seconds.
Molded patterns: Exquite embossed or debossed patterns can be engraved on the custom moulds and then perform it on the finished pressed glasses.
