Manufacturing process of Glass Bottles
Step 1. Melting the Raw Material
The raw materials are precisely weighed and combined in a furnace at high temperatures of 1600℃ until they melt and are ready for molding.
Step 2. Shaping the Glass Bottle
When the mixture melts and forms into gobs, a blade controled by CNC is used to cut the large glass gobs to same small gobs with equal weights before they undergo the forming process. A gob’s weight is very important in the manufacturing of glass bottles and jars in order to get the right volume and shape.
Method 1) Press and Blow
This method is the widely used process in manufacturing wide-mouth glass jars and bottles. An IS machine composed of different sections for producing same-sized containers simultaneously by cutting the molten glass into a mold before air is blown through it.
Method 2) Blowing
While the press and blow process is used for wide-mouth containers, the blowing process is used to manufacture containers with narrow necks or mouths.
Step 3. Annealing
Regardless of what kind of forming process is used, the annealing process is the following process after the glass bottles and jars are shaped in the molds. The annealing process cools down the glassware slowly in a heat furnace for around 2 hours, making the bottles and jars stronger and preventing them from cracking.
Step 4. Inspection
Any bottle that has imperfections, including misshapen areas, cracks, bubbles, and any impurity is picked out and then recycled and mixed with the raw materials.
